So – is Acuity Scheduling HIPAA-compliant?

Yes, but it only applies for accounts subscribed to the Powerhouse plan. 

Other than that, the software is willing to sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA). Then, you’ll be able to configure your usage in compliance with the HIPAA guidelines.

Acuity Scheduling App

On-the-go accessibility is one of Acuity’s most convenient features. You can download a scaled-down web app version on your iOS or Android device.

My only gripe is that the features are presented as clickable buttons that open up more options for navigation. It would have been easier to select a function from a drop-down menu instead of jumping from one page to another.

Nevertheless, beginners will have no trouble using the app. It also helps that after signing up, there’s an Acuity Scheduling demo that walks you through the basics. 

Customer Support

If you run into some software issues, Acuity Scheduling offers customer service via three channels:

  • a DIY knowledge base filled with hundreds of articles
  • an FAQ section
  • an email help desk

While the database contains extensive information on everything, it would have been nicer to have a live chat option. Even phone support is lacking. I tried getting in touch with a representative via an email ticket instead. I received a reply after 24 hours.

On the bright side, the agent was able to answer my multiple queries. But with that turnaround time, it’s clear that customer support is one area that the company should improve on.

The program offers a tiered pricing structure for complete access. Unfortunately, Acuity Scheduling has no free version anymore. You must subscribe to one of its monthly plans to use the program.

$25/month for six users/locations

Includes all Growing features plus removal of the “powered by” label on the scheduler, multiple time zones, BAA inclusion for HIPAA compliance, and custom API and CSS for developers.

Acuity Scheduling Review - Verdict

The Acuity Scheduling platform provides a quick and efficient way to manage bookings. Its cloud-based features allow clients and staff members to book appointments digitally and automatically.

Communication is also done smoothly, thanks to an automated email and SMS alerts. With the Zoom integration, video communication is also a breeze. Not every day do you meet an appointment scheduling software with web conferencing capabilities.

And since it’s powered by Squarespace, integrating a scheduler into your website doesn’t require coding. This enables real-time viewing of available slots, too!

One aspect that the software should improve on, though, is customer service. The limited support channels can be a huge red flag for clients.

Other than that, Acuity truly makes scheduling appointments a breeze. The subscription plans are also relatively affordable, making it an ideal solution for businesses of all sizes.

Acuity Scheduling is not a free solution. There used to be a Freebie plan for single-use, but not anymore. To use its features, you will need to subscribe to its paid plans:

Is Acuity Scheduling secure?

Yes, the Acuity software has strict security measures for data protection. Its HIPAA-enabled accounts are also equipped with extra security features like:

  • email notifications don’t contain intake form results
  • browser sessions end after four hours
  • clients need to log in or use a unique code to access packages
  • only documents from local computers or devices are accepted in intake forms

Who owns Acuity Scheduling?

Acuity Scheduling is a Squarespace program. In early 2020, the company launched Scheduling as part of its ecosystem. So, the software is now built into every Squarespace account.

Is Acuity Scheduling HIPAA compliant?
