What Is Internxt?

Internxt is a free and safe cloud storage provider. Drive, its flagship product, allows for seamless and secure file storing, syncing, sharing, and backing up on the cloud.

And get this, you can do all those things in total privacy. Thanks to the app’s military-grade encryption and file transfer capabilities, only you can access and control your data!

Also, Internxt is open source, so it gets extra points for transparency.

Anyone can access its code for verification due to being on a blockchain. Each action taken on the platform records on the blockchain register. This way, users can personally look into the system and inspect their data on the cloud.

Internxt has amassed over a million subscribers worldwide despite being a newcomer. Since 2020, it’s been under constant development with several new features still in the works.

Currently, the software provides two key toolsets – Drive and Photos.

What Is Internxt Photos?

Internxt has cloud storage dedicated to uploading, syncing, and sharing pictures called Photos. It’s a separate section accessible in the same interface, specifically meant to create online photo libraries.

This, along with the file storage service, makes the program a convenient cloud storage solution for home and business use. However, it’s worth noting that the files you upload count against your overall storage quota.

Internxt Features

As a relatively new service, it has only basic features that don’t go far beyond what many other internet storage services offer.

Nevertheless, here is what you can do with Internxt Drive and Photos.

Cloud Storage

Storing your files in Drive is pretty straightforward.

You get a media cloud storage space that’s strikingly similar to Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive. Similar to how these function, you’ll be able to upload and access your files on any device.

Its singular Upload button lets you add files to the cloud for easy access. Alternatively, you can drag-n-drop the items to the interface for instant transfers.

Once you’ve added your files, you can choose between a grid or list view. If you go for the latter option, your main dashboard will look like this:

drive

The program supports all kinds of files. As such, you can upload and store virtually anything online with this secure document storage.

But how secure is it?

Upon running tests for this Internxt cloud storage review, I found that it’s a fully-encrypted platform with zero-knowledge technology.

That means unauthorized users or servers can never access files, photos, passwords, and any form of encrypted data.

That’s it, in short, but I’ll dive into more security specifics later.

File Sync

Many Internxt reviews say that its file synchronization is pretty standard. Once you’ve uploaded your files to the Drive, you can rest assured they are up to date on all connected devices.

And with real-time sync enabled, the program instantly and automatically updates your storage each time you make changes.

Backups

You get a dedicated window for manual device backups on the web app. This is where you can access the files and folders you’ve added from your computer.

With that said, you will still need to download the desktop app, as you can only initiate the backup process from there.

backup

Also, you can select just the folders you want to include, as shown above. You can add as many folders and locations as you need. But if you plan to do a general backup, there’s an option that lets you accomplish it all at once.

Free Storage

Yes, you read that right. Internxt Drive offers free storage! You get 2 GB by default, but it is expandable up to 10 GB by accomplishing specific tasks like:

  • installing the mobile app and uploading a file (+1 GB)
  • sharing a file via link (+1 GB)
  • subscribing to the company’s newsletter (+1 GB)
  • invite four friends (+4 GB)

It’s like a reward system that effectively increases your free storage.

File Sharing

Need to send a file or photo real quick? File sharing on the Internxt cloud storage is a breeze. You simply generate a private link, then copy and send it to anyone. In addition, you can limit file access by setting a download limit.

file sharing

But that’s about it. Internxt’s cloud sharing service is limited to sending files via links. There are almost no collaboration features, which is restrictive if you want other users to edit a file in real-time.

And while it’s not the best file sharing option, this straightforward tool still lets you easily send and receive files.

Multi-Device Usage

The program offers cross-platform support. You can use Internxt on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android. That means you can safely and securely access your files on most devices, as long as you have a stable internet connection.

Password Checker

This free tool helps you create strong passwords by testing them against tight criteria.

You can go to the site’s Password Checker section and simply input your passcode. Then, it will tell you how weak or strong it is and suggest changes to make it more hack-proof.

password checker

Fortunately, there is no need to download the Internxt desktop app to accomplish this. You can just use your web browser!

Here's what the system does:

  • It checks your overall password strength
  • It analyzes the complexity and character combination
  • It determines how unique it is
  • It shows how much time it likely takes to crack it
  • It confirms whether or not your password meets all requirements to be ideally strong

And don’t worry – its zero-knowledge technology guarantees your password isn’t stored or shared.

File Organization

On Drive, you can organize your files by renaming them or grouping them into folders

Or, you can tag files to find what you want faster. Internxt works like a Mac when it comes to tagging. You can add color-based tags similar to how you would with Mac documents.

Cloud Photo Library

The Photos dashboard intuitively allows you to upload photos and access them wherever. Your photo library is also capable of real-time syncs with constant updates.

Sharing your photos is also just as easy. Like Drive, you can generate a share link and indicate how many times the recipients can access and download your shared image.

However, it’s worth noting that you can only upload photos from the mobile app. You can’t add pictures using the web app yet.

Internxt Ease of Use and Interface

When it comes to usability, Internxt reviews consistently praise it as straightforward and beginner-friendly.

All it takes to get started is to register for a free account. Once enrolled, you can immediately access the storage and initiate your uploads.

Many key functions are all available on the web app. However, you need to download the desktop and mobile apps to use the program’s other features, like Photos and Backup.

Overall, the interface is clutter-free, making it a hassle-free experience to store and sync files.

Internxt on Desktop

You can download Internxt on Linux, Windows, or macOS. You don’t, though, receive a similar interface like that in the web app. Instead, you get a widget-style app that looks like this:

desktop app

The sole function of this program is to set up a sync folder on your computer. You can also manually select the computer folders you want to back up with the cloud.

Other than that, you can’t do much with the Internxt desktop app.

Internxt App

You get a pocket version of the web interface on its mobile app. Here, you can access all your folders and upload files from your phone.

mobile app

Although it’s a scaled-down version, the mobile app is still capable of the app’s primary functions. This includes backing up and syncing your pictures using the Photos tool.

You can also download Internxt on any Android or iOS device.

Internxt Support

Internxt offers two support options – live chat and email. Phone support isn’t yet available, so if you want to discuss an issue with a representative, I suggest going for the live chat.

The messaging window indicates that their agents reply in less than two hours, but unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience. I sent a query about the app’s functionality, and I got a reply after 24 hours. That’s quite a long time to wait.

Thankfully, the agent responded adequately and was friendly throughout our conversation.

live chat

And by the way – this type of support is available on Internxt for free.

Unfortunately, I had trouble getting in touch with their email support. There is no section on its website where users can send tickets. After a long search, I found their support email address on the About Us page.

I sent the same query like the one I gave through live chat. And just like that response, I got the same one momentarily later.

But on the bright side, Internxt has a robust knowledge base for DIY support.

knowledge base

There are loads of useful guides that will help familiarize the program. They can even help you solve minor app issues.

Sadly, this can’t compensate for the fact that their support channels aren’t as responsive as they claim.

Internxt Security

By now, it’s pretty clear in this Internxt Drive review that the service doesn’t offer many features outside of file storing and syncing.

But when it comes to security, the program leaves no stone unturned.

First of all, it has industry standard military-grade AES-256 encryption for airtight security. Even the most powerful processor in the world won’t be able to decrypt your smallest file.

It also sports end-to-end encryption. No one, not even Internxt, can access your documents, photos, or passwords. Every file you upload or share encrypts before leaving your device, ensuring no one can open the file without the user's permission.

As the Internxt app servers lie throughout Europe, the company has no choice but to comply with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

And lastly, for an extra layer of security, you can set up two-factor authentication (2FA) using a third-party service like Authy or Google Authenticator.

Internxt is among the safest cloud storage options available, with its solid security core.

Internxt Pricing

You can use Internxt for free – forever. You get 2 GB of default storage, which you can increase up to 10 GB by accomplishing certain tasks.

There are no features locked behind a paywall, either. You get the same kind of functionality regardless if you’re using the free or premium version.

Like most cloud drive storage options, it has a range of subscription packages according to storage size.

Here are Internxt’s premium subscriptions:

  • 20 GB - $1/month
  • 200 GB - $5/month
  • 2 TB - $10.50/month

Alternatively, Internxt offers a lifetime deal if you prefer to pay a one-off fee. You’ve got three options:

  • 1 TB - $100
  • 5 TB - $316
  • 10 TB - $530

There’s a separate Internxt price structure for businesses, starting at $9/month for two users. The price is scalable depending on your team size and how much storage you require.

Internxt Alternatives

To complete this Internxt cloud storage review, I compared it against some of today’s best cloud solution providers.

Internxt vs. OneDrive

OneDrive is one of the most popular options on the market. As Microsoft’s default cloud drive storage, it’s capable of seamless file syncing and sharing. And while it ranked well on our best cloud storage list, how does it stack up against Internxt?

As two programs of the same kind, it’s no surprise that they share many similarities.

Both are cross-platform tools that enable easy document uploads and real-time synchronization on all connected devices. They both also generate links for easy and secure file sharing.

Onedrive’s clear advantage over Internxt is its collaboration tools. Live editing and file versioning are features you can maximize, especially if you’re working within the Microsoft ecosystem.

Internxt, though, is the more affordable cloud storage solution. It offers up to 10 GB of free storage, while OneDrive only offers 5 GB.

Internxt vs. Google Drive

While writing this Internxt cloud review, I found that the program’s overall functionality is most similar to Google Drive.

For one, both interfaces look almost identical to each other. Their core functions are also the same – storing data and making it accessible virtually anywhere. With a personal account and a stable Internet connection, you can view, edit, and share your files on any platform.

But here’s the distinction.

Just like OneDrive, Google beats Internxt when it comes to collaboration. In addition to the cloud storage, Google Workspace gives users direct access to productivity apps like Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and more.

So, if you want the best cloud storage service for accessibility and usability, go for Google.

But if you prioritize security over anything else, Internxt is the obvious choice. Internxt cloud storage fills the gaps left by Google Drive with its end-to-end encryption and zero-knowledge technology.

Internxt vs. Sync.com

Sync.com is among the best sync software, and just like Internxt, its features are pretty straightforward.

Both programs can automatically update your files on all your devices. They are also equally limited when it comes to collaboration, but Sync.com has the upper hand with its file versioning capabilities.

However, Internxt Drive has a price tag that’s more attractive. Its free version offers up to 10 GB of storage, while Sync.com only offers 5 GB. Its $1 base monthly subscription is also easier on the pocket compared to the latter’s $8 minimum price.

If we talk security, you can’t go wrong with either. Both programs possess zero-knowledge technology and gold-standard AES-256 bit encryption.

Internxt Review - Verdict

Being a secure, encrypted, and zero-knowledge-based online document storage platform, Internxt’s claims are legit. It truly is among the safest cloud options available.

However, its limited feature suite leaves a lot to be desired - possessing only file uploading, syncing, and sharing.

It lacks advanced features like real-time collaborative editing or file versioning. These are benefits you can utilize with other popular options.

However, given how young the service is, it’s understandable that the toolbox isn’t as comprehensive. With many features still on the way, Internxt shows excellent potential.

But in its current state, it’s hard to recommend it over services like Sync.com, which I think is potentially the best overall personal cloud storage service. It offers way more functionality without compromising security.

For a free tool with up to 10 GB of storage, Internxt is still worth a try. So if you’re looking for additional file storage that’s convenient and secure, Internxt is a great place to start.

FAQ.

Is Internxt reliable?

Based on this Internxt Drive review, yes, it’s 100% safe and reliable. Internxt does not keep user data, making it a secure online storage platform. It also employs end-to-end encryption for all transfers. And it complies with the EU’s strict data law, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

How does Internxt work?

Internxt stores your files on a cloud server and syncs them across all connected devices. It has two main sections – Drive, for storing documents, and Photos, for storing pictures and videos.

In addition to utilizing zero-knowledge encryption and two-factor authentication, it also uses file sharding to enhance security. It stores your files as fragmented pieces spread across numerous European servers. This makes the service, even more, private and secure.

What is Internxt Drive?

This zero-knowledge cloud storage can sync, share, and back up your files. Although its features are limited, it’s still among the best secure cloud storage tools. For more details, go ahead and read my Internxt review in full!
