Kajabi is an online education and content marketing platform. Founders Kenny Reuter and Travis Rosser created it to help digital entrepreneurs, small businesses, and influencers sell content. Since it launched in 2010, it has successfully catered to over 50,000 users in 120 countries. 

The online learning platform has customizable templates for course creation. You can also build your website without resorting to WordPress. 

Additionally, Kajabi has several themes for building landing pages, and you have access to unlimited marketing emails. You can process payments, gain insights into customer’s progress, and automate targeted marketing campaigns. 

But that’s hardly all.

In this Kajabi review, we’ll talk about all the features, share some tips and tricks, and help you decide if this is the platform for you.

What Is Kajabi Course Creation Like? 

You really don’t need to be a professional to create Kajabi courses. The platform is easy to navigate. Just follow those simple steps.

Creating a Course

First, you need to create an account. Once you sign in, click on the New Product button at the top right side of your dashboard. When it opens, you’ll have to choose from the following:

• Mini-Course: A shorter class, mainly used by those who want to build brand value. 
• Online Course: Longer than the mini, contains everything you need to create e-learning materials. 
• Evergreen Training: You can release content in stages rather than at once. A great way to encourage consistency and increase engagement among students. 
• Blank: With this option, you can create unique Kajabi online courses. 

After picking a format, click on the Generate Online Course button. The software will prompt you to name the class. Afterward, a page will appear with a predetermined outline. 

To edit the draft, use the drag function. You can customize the layout of your class in any way you want.

If you click on Categories, you’ll find organizational tools. 

Content Upload

The Kajabi platform relies on Wistia to encode your video content into different formats so that it will show up on all types of devices. Once the video is uploaded, you can choose a thumbnail and save it. 

On your dashboard, you’ll see the Products tab. Click on it, select the content you want to work on, go to the media section, and select video. It’s that simple! You can also go back to edit the recordings whenever you want. 

Assessments 

Assessments are vital for online education, and Kajabi knows this.

Content Locking provides an easy way to track your students’ progress. They can’t access the next class until they pass a test. 

The creation process is straightforward. Simply make quizzes after each class by typing the questions and options into the Lesson Editor. 

Kajabi reviews show some users find the options a bit limiting.

Here’s why: 

• They don’t allow enough customization.
• You can’t have a video and test under the same class category.
• The software does not support advanced quiz editing. You can, however, have query banks or random questions.

On the upside, Kajabi has different assessment types. You can have multiple-choice or open-ended questions. Plus, you immediately get the results after a test. 

Furthermore, the online learning tool allows students to submit assignments. You, as a lecturer, can export student performance data into CSV format. You can also transfer the results directly to a third-party app using the Zapier integration in the Kajabi dashboard. 

Photo Upload

For each class on the online course marketplace, you can upload a photo. It is engaging and aids students’ concentration. Rather than seeing rows and rows of plain text, they will get a visual representation of the content. Simply click on the Pick File button on the right side of the editor column and add an image. 

Downloads

If you want to include a document in your class, go to the Lesson Editor page. You’ll find it in the Download section on the right side of your dashboard. Students will be able to download all files you upload during the course of the class.

Body

That’s the place where you describe your Kajabi courses. By reading your summary, attendees will know what the classes are before registering. You can also include a transcript for any visual file. That way students won’t fall behind if they don’t have the opportunity to watch the video.

Certificates

Kajabi, like other e-learning platforms, allows you to issue certificates to successful students. In theory, this is great.

But.

Many Kajabi user reviews left us with the impression that there’s a lot that can be improved.

To begin with, you can’t create the certificates within Kajabi. You will need to use third-party tools like Canva, Google Slides, or SmartDraw. 

After making the certificate, download it into your hard drive. You can send it as an email attachment to students. Note that the diploma does not indicate the time spent studying the course or any continuing education credit. 

Thus, if you want to take a course to earn credit and have it indicated, Kajabi may not be the option for you. 

Lastly, creating a class will mean nothing if you can’t sell it. Kajabi lets you promote online courses. You can use email marketing or share content on social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram.  

Kajabi Website Builder 

The website builder is one of the special Kajabi features. The software gives you a lot more control than other learning management systems (LMS). Not only will you be able to edit the software templates, but you’ll also get a Kajabi custom domain. 

But it doesn’t stop there. 

The platform gives you free hosting on its paid plans. Additionally, the website builder is fully integrated. You do not need to have any tech experience, as there are several customizable Kajabi themes. 

You can edit your site from the Settings tab. You can tweak the branding, homepage SEO, and static pages, among others. 

The Kajabi website builder is also great for creating blogs. This is an excellent way to foster community among your students.

You can change the number of blogs that appear on your homepage. Alternatively, you can hide them. You could equally tailor the layout to be more navigation-friendly by including post sidebars.

You can easily include sections and tags to structure your content. You can also choose the domain you want to use on the Kajabi coaching platform. You can use the one provided by the solution or use a custom option. 

However, you won’t get a complete website hosting experience. 

You can’t search for domains or purchase them in-app as you would on GoDaddy. But if you have a custom address you want to use, you can connect it to Kajabi. It uses Cloudflare, which improves security and performance. 

Kajabi offers templates that are very easy to customize. They save you hours of tweaking the design. Nevertheless, we recommend that you get a preview of the page you’re creating to see how your changes look. 

Another thing to note - the creators have been working to improve SEO. For its 10th anniversary in 2020, the company introduced alt-text. The texts give search engines a more precise understanding of what’s on your site. Also, if you have your personal domain, it will help you rank. 

Lastly, the Kajabi app comes with an in-built analytics system. It is effective for tracking revenue, subscription metrics, and numbers comparison. 

If you want more advanced options, go to settings, and click on third-party integrations. You can choose from Segment, Google Analytics, and Facebook Pixel. 

Kajabi Marketing Tools

Kajabi offers dependable marketing tools for your products. There are three key categories: Email Marketing, Pipelines, and Integrations.

Email Marketing

You can choose from several beautiful Kajabi email templates. The platform provides automated subject line validation and multi-touch sequences based on customer behavior.

Also, the software uses an intuitive visual editor to make email customization easy. You can make your messages stand out with countdown timers, videos, and you can always personalize them. Plus, you can create broadcasts or a sequence and send multiple targeted texts. 

You can also set up newsletters in advance. From the dashboard, you can include subscribers. You’ll get a report about open rates, bounces, and actions. 

If users unsubscribe from your mailing list, you’ll get notified instantly. Besides, you can use automation to tag users based on how they respond to your messages. You can also send reminders to inactive users. 

You can use the Kajabi e-commerce platform to send thank you notes and for other essential functions. Furthermore, you can create events, form submissions, opt-in, and opt-outs. All in all, the email marketing tool is excellent for your business.

Ease of Use

During the tests for this Kajabi review, we had no issues with the platform. The creators designed the tool in a way that even rookies can quickly grasp how it works. Whether you’re creating a class, building a website, or writing a blog post, the process will be straightforward. Plus, the online learning platform has several short tutorial videos to help when you hit a snag.

Kajabi Customer Support and Training

The platform prides itself on its customer support, but there are mixed reviews on the response times. 

But first, what are the options available? 

The online education tool assistance is entirely online, meaning there is no phone option. What you can do, however, is chat with a Kajabi bot, browse the help site, or send an email.

The support is available 24/7, and there’s a Kajabi Assistant bar at the top of every page. The tab helps you locate tutorial videos. Besides that, you can access Kajabi University for free training. Additionally, there’s a demo video encompassing all Kajabi features, and unlike some platforms, you don’t have to apply to get it. Just ask the Kajabi bot. Lastly, there’s a daily live Q&A webinar where you can ask questions. But you’ll have to sign up to be a part of it. 

Kajabi user reviews, however, often feature complaints about the slow response times. When we tried it out, we got a timely response. 

Kajabi Alternatives

While we were writing this Kajabi review, we couldn’t help but notice the platform shares some similarities with other tools.

Kajabi vs Teachable

Both are online platforms for creating, publishing, and selling lessons. Unlike massive open online courses (MOOC) platforms like Udemy, Coursera, and edX, you won’t be tied to the brand. Plus, you have control over all your prices. 

The Kajabi platform has simple and straightforward course creation tools. You can pick one of its easy-to-use Product Blueprints to create community, mini-lessons, online classes, evergreen training, etc.

Teachable is also easy to navigate. You are, however, limited to two options - setting up a class or coaching. With the latter, you can manage clients, schedule, and upsell products. 

The former allows you to create classes with sections and lectures. You can include commentary, embed forms, and provide certification upon completion. Kajabi and Teachable both use Categories to group lessons, and they rely on video hosting from Wistia. 

When it comes to sales and marketing, Teachable offers handy features like coupons and 1-click upsells. You have access to EU VAT handling, affiliate marketing, and many more. However, it falls short in sales funnels and landing pages. 

While they’re both very similar, Kajabi’s features are more extensive. 

Kajabi vs Thinkfic

Kajabi and Thinkific are two of the most famous names in the e-learning industry. 

Both platforms help you sell your content, market it, and offer various payment options. Also, you can build a website.

One key difference between the two is the free trial periods. While the Kajabi e-commerce platform gives you a 14-day test run, you get 30 days with Thinkific. However, you have to enter your credit card information to be able to test it. 

Kajabi’s basic plan costs $149 monthly, while Thinkific’s $49. Although the latter appears cheaper, it lacks features. 

For example, you can stay on top of your courses when on the go with the Kajabi mobile app. Without access to your desktop or PC, you can’t use Thinkific as it currently lacks a mobile application. 

Only Kajabi has live chat customer support. To get assistance on Thinkific, you have to visit the solutions help center or submit a ticket. 

Whether you’re using Kajabi or Thinkific, you can connect with tools like Zapier. The two also offer video hosting, but where Kajabi uses Wistia, Thinkific keeps your audiovisuals locally. It has a visual library that can store unlimited content. 

In summary, both software will cater to all your course creation needs. However, when choosing, you should consider the one that goes with your specific needs and stick with it.

On the flip side, Kajabi is expensive and doesn’t create certificates natively. Another downside is that there are limitations to customizing assessments. And we can’t ignore the complaints about the slow customer support - although personally, we didn’t have an issue when writing this Kajabi review.
