DewVPN's website has been down for over a month. We suggest you consider other alternatives.
We don't recommend downloading DewVPN from other websites. We'll update the review when the company's status changes.

Nowadays, netizens pay great attention to their Internet privacy and security. You can achieve this using safe and legal VPN servers.

With few DewVPN reviews available, I tested DewVPN to help you decide if it's right for you.

It claims that customer privacy is paramount. So even if you use the free DewVPN plan, you should feel confident in your web surfing.

Based in the British Virgin Islands, it’s not part of the Fourteen Eyes alliance.

The software supports hundreds of servers located in 50 countries. It gives you unlimited traffic, speed, location switching, and is intuitive.

But is it reliable?

DewVPN Features

DewVPN has many handy options. You can enjoy zero-logging, split tunneling, unlimited server switching, and IP address masking. And it also has several security features.

Let’s get into the details!

Zero-logging policy

One of the most critical aspects of using a VPN is its zero-logging policy.

DewVPN, fortunately, doesn’t keep any data traffic logs. As such, you mustn’t fear that your crucial data will leak.

Unlimited switching

The software offers unlimited switching.

Whenever you want, you can select servers in 50 worldwide locations from the DewVPN server list. And you can also change it as many times as you like.

Split Tunneling

This feature allows you to choose which apps use your VPN or local network.

It’s an excellent way to use your local network’s speed while remaining protected online. And while you retain some protection from being connected through the DewVPN server, your open applications are more vulnerable.

Advanced Features

Canvas fingerprinting

This type of "browser fingerprinting" is a technique for tracking online users. It allows websites to uniquely identify and track visitors using HTML5 canvas element instead of cookies.

When users connect to VPN servers, identifying individual IP addresses becomes impossible. As such, your IP address will remain anonymous.

And with the DewVPN browser extension, you don’t have to worry about anything additions to your digital fingerprint.

Let’s go into some details about its security features.

Security Features

DewVPN delivers many competent security features to ensure no data leaks and your privacy is protected.

256-bit AES encryption

This VPN protects your data by employing 256-bit AES encryption. Government agencies use this military-grade encryption to conceal their information.

WebRTC Leak Protection

A WebRTC leak is a vulnerability that can leak your real IP address, even when using а VPN. It uses the ICE protocol to discover your IP address, but fortunately, this DewVPN security feature ensures this type of leak never occurs.

DNS leak protection

A DNS leak is a security flaw that transpires when requests are sent to an ISP's DNS server, even when using a VPN. DewVPN creates a private tunnel between your computer and the Internet. This way, your actual IP address isn’t revealed.

IPv6 leak protection

DewVPN offers IPv6 leak protection by disabling this type of traffic. This guarantees that no Internet traffic leaks over your regular connection while connected to the VPN.

Servers and Locations

The website does not specify the exact number of servers, but it says hundreds of DewVPN servers are located in 50 countries worldwide.

But what about its speed performance?

DewVPN Speed

Connecting to a VPN can slow your Internet connection down. It’s essential to check a VPN’s speed, especially if you want to use it for streaming or downloading content.

For this DewVPN review, I did a speed test on how different servers across the world perform. I didn’t experience interruptions when watching HD videos while connected to a remote server.

As you can see, the download and upload speeds dropped significantly. So I can’t say that it lives up to the promised rates of 1Gbit connection speed for an ultra-fast speed connection.

Base speed:

What’s more important than a VPN’s speed performance? Its privacy policies.

Let’s take a look at them.

Privacy and Jurisdiction

In some countries, there are mandatory data retention laws on VPN providers. So to avoid that, they should be based in a place that doesn’t impose those laws.

Fortunately, the company’s headquarters is in such a location, the British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands are not a part of the 14-eyes alliance, whose countries’ foreign intelligence agencies share military and counterterrorism information with one another. DewVPN isn’t obligated to share anything about you.

The software certainly doesn’t keep any information about your browsing history, and as long as you use DewVPN, you are safe.

But what security measures does it use?

Security and Protocols

Even with the DewVPN free plan, it provides several protocols to protect your browsing.

Let’s take a look at them.

Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)

Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol is a network protocol that enables the secure transfer of data from a remote client to a private enterprise server by creating a virtual private network across TCP/IP-based data networks.

Internet Protocol Security (IPSec)

IPsec is a group of protocols used to set up encrypted connections between devices. It helps keep data secure when sent over public networks. Often used to set up VPNs, it works by encrypting IP packets and authenticating the source where the packets come from.

Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP)

This protocol is an extension of the Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol used by Internet service providers (ISPs) to enable virtual private networks. It doesn’t offer any encryption by itself. Instead, it provides a tunnel for Layer 2 that can bypass a Layer 3 encryption protocol like IPSec.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

A secure sockets layer VPN enables users to access an organization's network, client-server applications, and internal network utilities and directories without specialized software.

Leak Test Results

I decided to do a leak test on the software since I couldn’t find any DewVPN reviews covering this important issue.

As you can see from the results of the IP and DNS leak tests, this app is reliable.

DewVPN and Streaming Services

Most people use VPNs to access streaming services that aren’t available in their region.

But can you rely on DewVPN free servers to access some of the best video streaming services?

Of course! You can easily open websites that lie behind regional firewalls.

At first, I couldn’t open Disney +, but when I tried again while connected to the VPN, it became accessible

You can also connect through a foreign server and unblock content on Netflix, Snapchat, Spotify, and other restricted apps.

For example, if you want to watch shows only available in France, pick one based in France.

How Good is it for Torrenting?

P2P file sharing and torrenting are allowed on all DewVPN free version servers. I tried to download some content, but unfortunately, the speed was inadequate.

Can DewVPN Bypass Geoblocks?

Some countries go to great lengths to restrict VPN usage. These include:

  • China
  • Russia
  • Iran
  • UAE
  • Oman
  • Turkey
  • Iraq
  • Turkmenistan
  • Belarus
  • North Korea

Of the countries listed, DewVPN only offers servers in Turkey and Russia. I was able to connect to them. And because it provides obfuscated servers, it can bypass geoblocks.

Ease of Use

You’re probably wondering if the app is simple or overly complicated to use.

It‘s intuitive, and you should be able to use the app in no time.

On the downside, you can only download DewVpn on Windows.

The website says that it’s also available for iOS, Linux, Android, and macOS.

However, when I searched for it in the Apple store, it didn't show. When I tried to download it for other operating systems, it redirected me to the Windows section. It seemingly isn’t available for any other operating system.

Here is how you get started.

Click on choose location.

2. Choose from the list of locations.

3. Press the big on/off switch to activate.

There are also DewVPN extensions for Chrome and Firefox browsers.

The DewVPN extension is also simple to use. You need to select a server and then press on connect.

Unfortunately, there isn't a mobile app.

But what about their customer support? Will they help you if you experience any issues?

Let’s see!

Customer Support

A company needs to have reliable customer support. Technical problems occur, and it's best to know that you can count on someone to help resolve issues.

Unfortunately, you can only contact customer support representatives through email

And, the reps aren’t reliable. I sent some basic questions about the app. And three days later, I contacted them again but never heard back.

DewVPN Price

DewVPN offers a free version and a premium subscription. The former isn’t the best option, and I’ll explain why shortly.

But what about the paid version?

You can purchase a premium subscription for DewVPN for the following durations:

  • 1 month - $20
  • 2 months - $38
  • 3 months - $55
  • 6 months - $108
  • 1 year - $210
  • 2 years - $400

Unfortunately, the software doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee.

Is DewVPN's Free Version Safe?

DewVPN is a peer-to-peer VPN that enables a community of users to pool and route their internet connections through each other by sharing idle resources.

This is not, though, safe, and I’ll explain why.

For example, if connected to a US server, you’re using someone’s real IP address, and it’s visible. And this goes both ways. If someone’s connected to a server in your country, they can use your actual IP address.

While it’s not likely to happen, in theory, you could bare responsibility if someone commits a cybercrime using your IP address.

DewVPN offers free servers for non-commercial use. You gain access to basically everything that the app can deliver without fees.

And there is an option for commercial use or for users that prefer not to contribute their idle resources to the community-powered network.

This DewVPN review established the software’s pros and cons. And although it doesn’t provide a kill switch or port forwarding, we can rely on its zero-log policy, split tunneling, and unlimited switching with agreeable speeds.

Do I recommend the software?

The free version has some downsides, so I recommend trying out a premium DewVPN plan.

But if you think this VPN isn’t right for you, you can check our other VPN reviews to help you decide.

Can you provide the download address of the latest dewvpn (free version). I found that I could not access their official website (www.dewvpn. Com). If you can help me, I will thank you very much!

Hi, You can download it from here However, WE DON'T RECOMMEND using this VPN service anymore. Their official website is expired or listed for sale, so for the time being, you should consider another VPN service. Windscribe is also free and offers a great user experience.
