A dash cam can be a driver’s best friend as it captures everything that happens on the road.

Vantrue is a Chinese company established in 2015 with the primary goal of ensuring safety through technology.

Vantrue Element 1 has a compact design and a 1.54” screen. It uses a magnetic-assist mount, making the camera more stable on the windshield. In addition, it has an embedded GPS module

There’s a mobile app available for iOS and Android, allowing quick access to the settings.

The dash cam system offers all the essential features like:

  • G-sensor
  • Collision and Motion detection
  • Parking mode

But does it live up to the expectations?

I tested it firsthand to help you find the answers to all your questions in this Vantrue E1 review.

First things first:

What’s in the Box?

Before we get to the gist, take a peek at what’s inside the box.

Box contents

The package contains:

  • A dash cam
  • GPS adhesive mount
  • Cigarette lighter socket power adapter with 11.5 ft USB Type C charging cable
  • 3.3 ft data cable for transferring files
  • Wireless remote control
  • Installation tool
  • User manual
  • Warning stickers
  • Electrostatic stickers

The Vantrue E1 installation process is simple. It took me about 10 minutes to set up everything. However, it’ll be a little longer if you want to hide the cables.

Vantrue E1 Specifications

The camera packs some impressive specs, especially for such a lightweight item. Let me show you each of them individually.

It can capture video in up to 2592x1944p resolution at 30 frames per second but can reach up to 60 FPS on lower resolutions. You can change the resolution in the Vantrue mobile app if you don’t need the highest quality.

The cam records through a lens with an advanced F1.8 aperture. It’s also equipped with a 160° wide angle, making it good enough to capture license plates clearly.

The Sony Starvis IMX335 CMOS sensor and HDR technology ensure super night vision. With these two, the Vantrue E1 dash cam can catch even minor details during nighttime.

If you see something important on the road, you can do a photo snap using the:

  • App
  • Wireless hotkeys
  • Or voice control

There’s also an option to purchase a CPL filter for an additional $20. It reduces glare and reflections and clarifies the video.

Overall, the camera provides a satisfying video quality during both day and nighttime.

Thanks to its built-in GPS module, the Vantrue E1 mini dash cam can record your route and driving speed. You can also track your course when previewing your videos on a phone or computer.

Sound Quality

If you’re looking for a complete event data recorder with sound included, you’re in the right place. The Vantrue Element 1 dash cam system has a built-in microphone that picks up even quiet voices clearly.

I checked out the recorded videos, and the audio quality is excellent. However, if you want some privacy, you have the option to turn off the mic from the:

  • Camera
  • Wireless hotkeys
  • Application

The Vantrue E1 2.5K Wi-Fi mini dash camera comes with a built-in 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. It lets you easily pair it with the companion app on your phone to share your videos.

Another way to transfer your clips to your PC or laptop is with the data cable

The Vantrue Element 1 supports up to 512 GB of external memory. Unfortunately, the package doesn’t include a microSD card. But the good news is you can purchase one separately from the official website.

Now, let’s check out the additional functionalities you can expect:

The purpose of the G-sensor is to measure acceleration changes. This way, the Vantrue E1 dash cam can detect sudden or unusual movement. If an accident occurs, the video file will automatically lock in the Event Folder to prevent overwriting it.

Loop Recording

With this feature, you don’t have to worry about running out of space and missing something important. When the SD card is full, the camera will start overwriting the oldest videos to free up space for the new ones. The G-sensor ensures that the vital clips aren’t deleted.

App control

You also get app connectivity. To connect and control the dash dam, you need to download Vantrue’s application from Apple Store or Google Play.

With it, you can:

  • Live preview
  • Take photos
  • Watch, save, edit, and transfer videos
  • Adjust the settings
  • Turn the mic on and off

The app is completely free and has a user-friendly interface, making it quite easy to navigate.

Voice Control

The Vantrue E1 voice commands allow you to control your cam hands-free. This feature is available in different languages such as:

  • English
  • Japanese
  • Chinese
  • Russian

And you can:

  • Take photos
  • Select the beginning and end of a recording
  • Mute and unmute the microphone
  • Lock videos

Wireless Hotkeys

The remote controller lets you easily turn the mic on and off and save videos. When you short-press, you take photos and capture essential clips to the Event Folder.

24 hours Parking Mode

The Vantrue E1 mini dash cam provides 24 hours surveillance to guard your car when parked. It’ll automatically enter this mode when you turn off your vehicle.

The Motion detection is on alert for any movement. For example, it’ll sense if someone scratches your car or tries to break into it.

An impact or movement can trigger Collision detection. If your vehicle is involved in a hit-and-run while parked, you can check who did it and have evidence.

The dash cam also provides a Low bitrate mode, which enables it to record nonstop with low power consumption.

However, the camera needs to be hardwired to use the Parking mode. So if you want access to that feature, you need to purchase a hardware kit separately.

The Vantrue E1 2.5K Wi-Fi mini dash costs $149.99. Considering the quality it provides, the price is reasonable. The website accepts PayPal and credit card payments.

The good news is that the company provides worldwide shipping. When you place your order, it’ll ship it to you the next day. After that, you should expect your cam within three to five business days. You’ll receive a tracking number to check where your package is at any time.

There’s also a money-back guarantee. If you’re unhappy with the product, you can return it within 30 days after the purchase and get a full refund. The only condition is that it isn’t damaged.

Vantrue offers a 12-month warranty on all its products. Registering your camera on the official website grants you an additional six-month free warranty. If there’s a problem with your device, you can get:

  • New camera
  • Free repair
  • Full refund

Vantrue E1 Review – Verdict

Overall, the Vantrue E1 is a good investment. It’s compact and suitable for everyday use.

It has all the features a dash camera needs like GPS, G-sensor, and Motion and Collision detection.

It’s also equipped with 24 hours Parking mode, Remote control, Voice commands, and app connectivity.

The only disadvantage is that you need to purchase a microSD and the CPL filter separately.

Nonetheless, I recommend giving this dash cam a try. It provides high-quality video and offers excellent value for money.
