GravaStar Sirius Earbuds Review - Worth the Hype in 2022?

GravaStar entered the scene in 2018, making a name for itself by designing sci-fi-looking audio products. A quick look at its Bluetooth headphones and earbuds tells you that this manufacturer loves making peculiar devices.

Its Sirius TWS (True Wireless Stereo) wireless earbuds are a gamer’s delight, looking like they came straight from Cyberpunk 2077. While targeted at gaming enthusiasts, these little things are a good fit for anyone who doesn’t find dystopian futuristic aesthetics over-the-top.

Their unique design may grab all the attention, but things aren’t just skin deep with GravaStar Sirius wireless earbuds. The audio quality you get is astonishing. 

Here’s what else I found while writing this GravaStar Sirius review:

Features, Accessories, and Quality

In this section, I’ll talk about what you get with this product and its most essential features.

Packaging

The GravaStar Sirius earbuds arrive in a specifically-designed plastic box with a transparent cover. As you can imagine, GravaStar also opted for a sci-fi look for the container.

Inside the box, you’ll find:

• A charging case (with the headphones)
• A chain (to wear the case around your neck)
• Three additional ear tip pairs
• A USB-C cable
• A user manual

The box is an interesting touch as it gives you another item you can easily reuse. This also saves on the potential waste that generates with standard packaging.

Build Quality

I mentioned the charging case a few times in this GravaStar earbuds review. It looks more like a futuristic ammo crate rather than an earbuds case.

It’s made entirely from metal, specifically zinc alloy, and the design definitely stands out. A big GravaStar logo on the front and tint details give the case an authentic cyberpunk look.

Another unique feature is that earbuds are out in the open rather than inside the case. A small metallic bracket holds them down, so you don’t have to worry about losing them. The only problem is that the units may be slippery, and getting them out isn’t always easy.

The container measures 1.96 x 2.36 inches, and it’s easy to slide it into any jeans pocket. It has no RGB lights on it, but if you want those, you can always pick up the GravaStar Sirius Pro version.

Since GravaStar Sirius are TWS earbuds, the manufacturer couldn't take many liberties as it wanted to keep them comfy.

Still, GravaStar refused to take the Apple route and made its Sirius earbuds pea-shaped. The company’s engineers got the proportions right, meaning that the units are lightweight and comfortable inside the ear. You only feel discomfort during extremely long gaming sessions, but that’s normal for earbuds.

They are made from plastic and have tiny details that separate them from standard devices. For example, there’s the company’s logo on the faceplate. But if you look closely, you’ll also see more icons on the units and two slits that give them some color.

The touch-sensitive area is a huge feature of the earbuds. This means you don’t have to push any actual buttons, irritating the ear canal in the process.

Styles

If you Google search GravaStar headphones or earbuds, you’ll see that not all of them look the same. While they all have that cyberpunk or extra-terrestrial look, most products come in several different versions.

The Sirius earbuds come in two colors:

• Space Gray
• Neon Green

Otherwise, these two models are identical in terms of shape and design. 

Connectivity

The buds connect via Bluetooth 5.2 in a 10m range and support SBC and AAC codecs. Unfortunately, they don’t work with aptX LL, which would be the best option for gaming since it reduces delay and offers more synchronized overall sound.

According to the info from GravaStar, these tiny devices can get a latency of only 65 ms when you activate the gaming mode. Therefore, the difference isn’t as huge as it may first seem.

My tests showed that, with the SBC codec, you get virtually no lag when playing. So, you can rely on it to help you fish out important sounds in Fortnite and games where audio plays a critical role. The situation isn’t as good with AAC, and I did notice some lag, but I wouldn’t label it unplayable.

I experienced no dropouts or stuttering while testing the earbuds for this GravaStar Sirius Earbuds review.

Battery

The set includes four case charges for the IEMs. With each lasting for about four hours, you can get a total of 16 hours of playtime. While this isn’t the most you can get with wireless earbuds, it’s quite enough.

And with the necklaces the product comes with, you can always have the case on you.

Sound Modes

One of the best things about these earbuds is that they have three modes you can switch between. To choose the one that you want, all you have to do is gently tap the unit (more on touch controls later).

The modes you can choose from on the GravaStar Sirius earbuds are:

• Gaming mode - It’s a low-latency mode that emphasizes bass sounds for an improved gaming experience.
• Music mode - This mode offers a slightly higher latency but improves audio quality. Sounds are more detailed and balanced, with a slightly emphasized bass. 
• Movie mode - GravaStar also offers a special profile for watching movies. This mode is something of a middle ground between the first two. Surprisingly, it works well with electronic music.

Touch Controls

The GravaStar Sirius controls are easy to grasp. You only need to tap on the touchscreen areas on the units. It might take some time to get used to them, but they’ll be a real breeze once you do.

The controls are:

Left earbud:

• Tap x1 - Play/Pause Music, Take Call
• Tap x2 - Previous Song, End Call
• Tap x3 - Music Mode/Movie Mode
• Tap x4 - Activate Siri
• Hold for 1.5s - Decrease Volume

Right earbud:

• Tap x1 - Play/Pause Music, Take Call
• Tap x2 - Next Song, End Call
• Tap x3 - Music Mode/Gaming Mode
• Tap x4 - Activate Siri
• Hold for 1.5s - Increase Volume

Both earbuds come with a proximity sensor that automatically pauses the music when you take them out. It resumes, when you put them in. From my tests, this functionality works well.

Water Resistance

GravaStar Sirius TWS earbuds are also IPX5-rated. This means they’ll work well even when they get in touch with sweat or very light rain.

While offering strong water resistance, using them in the shower isn’t a good idea.

Performance and Specs

GravaStar Sirius wireless earbuds make use of 7.2mm dynamic drivers but don’t have the Knowles balanced armature you get with the Pro version. This is one of the main things that separates the two versions, but the audio you get with the standard one is still very good.

Earlier in this GravaStar Sirius review, I mentioned that the device has a slightly heavier bass. This is what you’d expect from gaming earbuds, as it makes you feel involved when playing.

Depth is decent, but it doesn’t necessarily get to the lowest notes when you turn the volume all the way up. If you want audiophile-level sound quality, picking up headphones for music is a better idea.

Now that I’ve covered everything else, it’s time to look at the GravaStar Sirius price. To get a set of either Space Gray or Neon Green earbuds, you’ll have to set aside $89.95. There aren’t many other models in the sub-$100 bracket that stand out so successfully. 

Verdict

GravaStar has targeted its audience well by designing these unique gaming earbuds. Not only do they look amazing, but they also offer top-notch audio when playing.

In addition, the music and movie modes work surprisingly well. However, they’re also not the best choice for audiophiles.

If you’re looking for gaming earbuds that stand out but don’t want to pay an arm and a leg, you can’t go wrong with these.
