One of the most popular products is the KLIM Mantis gaming headset. It doesn’t only look nice, but it promises great sound. Does it really deliver?

Quality 7.1 Sound

KLIM Mantis 7.1 surround sound is what this headset is all about. This can be a real game-changer when playing game, as it helps you locate opponents easier. High-quality sound is achieved through 40mm speakers with a frequency response of 20 Hz-20 KHz.

It doesn’t only produce quality ambiance sounds, but you can clearly hear your teammates. The bass is a little more feverish than you’d expect, but it doesn’t take away from the experience. When there are no loud explosions and trembling, the sounds created by the bass are more than good.

The overall sound is good for music, too. This isn’t always the case with headsets under $100.

Microphone

So, can your teammates hear you well with this headset?

The answer is yes.

The headset comes with a -38 dB microphone that picks up sound very well and handles ambient noise better than you’d expect. I tested KLIM Mantis on PS4 playing Fortnite, and none of my teammates had any complaints about the audio they received.

The only issue you may come across with the microphone is that it’s not flexible. The tech is completely hidden behind a plastic handle that only goes up and down. This means you can’t always position it perfectly.

Handy Remote

KLIM Mantis gaming headset is USB connected and also includes a tiny remote attached to the cable. It gives you the option to control both audio and microphone on the fly.

• Microphone mute

Mantis Software

The KLIM Mantis gaming headset software can take your audio experience to the next level by letting you customize surround sound, equalization, and other audio effects. On the downside, the UI looks a bit outdated.

Still, it includes microphone settings you can use to control volume, sample rate, and add effects. You choose between monster, cartoon, male, and female voice effects.

However, I should mention that you have to download the software from the KLIM website.

Build Quality

In order to give you a good KLIM Mantis gaming headset review, I focused on the comfort and build of the product.

One of the cool things about the Mantis is that the device was made to last. This headset packs endurable electronics built from higher-quality components. 

Although sturdy, the headset is also cushioned and flexible. This allows you to slightly adjust it according to your head size and shape.

In addition, the company designed it to avoid overheating. And this doesn’t mean the device isn’t well-padded. 

In fact, the pads are quite large for a headset of this size. When I tested the KLIM Mantis gaming headset on PS4, they did a great job of insulating sound.

In addition, the pads move around as you turn your head. This may not sound like a big deal but it definitely impacts your overall experience with the headset.

KLIM knows just how long gaming sessions can get. That’s why the manufacturer has opted for a more lightweight design. The entire headset weighs only 0.91 lbs (415g), which is way less than some other headsets on the market.

KLIM Mantis Review - Verdict

It’s not often that a headset under $100 offers 7.1 surround sound and a good design. So that makes KLIM Mantis quite unique. It comes with cool extra features like the small remote on the cable for easier access. The headset has some minor flaws but it still offers a lot more than you could expect.

I tested KLIM Mantis excessively for this review and it’s definitely one of the better headsets on the market. And given how affordable it is, it also makes for a great gift for gamers!
